So, I have finally gotten off of my ass, had my bike repaired (no more clunk-clunk foop-foop noises when I peddle), and holy of holies, I have had a new seat put on.
My old seat had gotten a tear in it, so it was sucking up water like a sponge. At one point all the water actually froze, so I had the rare and joyful experience of sitting on a large misshaped ice cube while peddling. This was questionably preferable to the non-frozen state of the seat, where the water would seep copiously up and out all over my butt and I would like like I wet myself for the next few hours.
Bike is repaired. New seat is installed. Ice has melted off the roads. No more excuses.
What I enjoy most about riding my bike is first how good I feel when I cycle. Not just for the physical benefits of the exercise, but how I remark and marvel at the things around me. Plus it is awful fun to peddle in rhythm to music. Madness, and likely all things ska, is the best for a good steady rhythm, but much much fun can be had to cycling to Outcast's "Bombs over Baghdad" or on the other of the spectrum, B-52s' "Roam".
Back on the bike and happy.
