Geneva can be shockingly, depressingly expensive. Dinner and wine for two? Ca-
ching! 200 francs. Wanna catch a flick? Ca-
ching! 18 francs. Skiing? Ca-
ching! Too depressing to actually give the figure.
So I was very pleasantly surprised to go to the outdoor skating rink that the Geneva Sports Service has set up at the Parc des Bastions and discover that it only costs 2 francs to rent a pair of skates and glide around in dreamy circles (or in my case skid around on your butt) for as long as your heart desires.

Not only is it cheap, but it is really beautiful. The rink is right outside a big
glass pavilion and the base was built around these beautiful "singing in the rain" kind of lamp posts. Plus they have colored lights hanging over head, you have the trees, the sky, no cars, and the jovial scowl of Calvin not too far away.
Merry cheapy happy!

I think your blog is real laugh and I have been following it since about Thing #12 when we decided we wanted to try and move from UK to Geneva (wife and two kids - 6 and9). I'm still trying to find a job there so that we can move. But when I do then we'll be trying out all your ecletic "things" and will hopefully suggest a few new ones for you too. Keep 'em coming!
